Gossip Girl Day of the Day: Gossip Girl commemorated its 100th episode with a visit from New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who announced a onetime Gossip Girl Day to celebrate the occasion.
The mayor said the show has become an “ambassador for New York City.” He also pointed out that last year, a record number of 23 primetime shows called the Big Apple home.
The Gossip Girl producers said they fought to shoot the show on location in New York after they saw the poor Los Angeles set that would stand in for Central Park.
“I can’t even believe it’s been five years. It’s so crazy,” said actress Blake Lively. “It doesn’t feel like we’ve done a hundred because it’s been so enjoyable.”
