Hot Dog Incident of the Day: Golfer Tiger Woods is unharmed after surviving a hot dog attack at the Frys.Com Open in San Martin, California yesterday.
Woods was preparing for a birdie putt when a spectator wielding a hot dog and bun shouted the golfer’s name and launched the snack in his direction.
3News has video of the strange incident.
Woods said:
Some guy just came running on the green, and he had a hot dog, and evidently … I don’t know how he tried to throw it, but I was kind of focusing on my putt when he started yelling. Next thing I know, he laid on the ground, and looked like he wanted to be arrested because he … put his hands behind his back and turned his head.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested the man for disturbing the peace and removed him from the property.
Woods was calm through the bizarre ordeal, but still missed his 18-foot putt. He closed out his final round with a 68 and tied for 30th in the tournament.
